Jurian Bay-Cevantes

Arrived Jurian Bay had a look around town not a lot here couldn't get into van park so moved on to Cevantes, went to van park they only had one site left here (did we book ahead no we are too clever) checked site out but too many trees to dodge here could not get van on.Back to office to plead our case to reception, you do what you have do in this position cry if you have to, even bribe then see what happens.Well what do you know if they move a tent person on to the tight site then you can fit a van onto their site,we thank them greatfully and set up here.
Saturday 8/10.Off to see the Pinnacles,at first we thought "More Rocks" but no they are a must see for sure. Billy Connolly did a visit here on his tv show when he tripped around OZ I think he was naked at the time.
Gail amongst the ROCKS
There are thousands of these out here legend has it that in the dreamtime this area was not to be entered for what ever reason but boys being boys they did and were swallowed by quicksand and the pinnacles are supposed to be their hands reaching up trying to get out of the quicksand.
The sign doesn't say you cannot plank Gail
We spent sometime here it is amazing, you can walk around here or for the lazy you can drive around a layed out track about 3Ks I think .
Back to Cevantes to plan our next stopover, but first some beaches to check out.

Geraldton

This memorial is really touching,it commemorates the loss of life in WW2 of all the crew on the Sydney some 642 of them lost in a battle with a German Surface Raider. All the names are listed on the walls at the rear of shrine. The lady is waiting for her husband, brother, son etc to return.
View overlooking Geraldton
Next off to Cathedral to look around,we wanted to do a tour here but as usual for us either too early or too  late so we ducked in on our own not bad but all starting to look the same now.
Wed 5/10 Still waiting for shields to arrive, their purpose is to keep car cool in summer and cover windows to keep prying eyes out, drove out to Ellendale Pool so nice out there we have decided to leave Geraldton on Thursday and drive back on Friday to see if they arrived.Judith and Ross moved on to Jurian Bay ahead of us so we say good bye to them yet again.
Windfarm to produce electricity
These towers are computer controlled, when wind blows to fast they shut down, blades are 82 metres in dia etc more info on this board(may need to enlarge photo)
Thursday6/10 Leaving today at 9 00am getting worried about Solar Shields, first call will be PO.
Yeah!!! Parcel arrived all good. They are very well made,do great job.
We have decide to move on to Lake Indoon not far from Jurian,National Park stay on side of Lake, about 6 other vans here some long term, some overnighters we thought we would stay a couple of days.
Whoa!!That's a whole lot better.
A tad blowy here people, and the flies are great as well,so we decided to leave them behind and do a Cave visit, unfortunately flies followed us.
Stockyard Gulley Cave entrance.
This cave was formed along time ago by water running through hillside and eroding away the softer rock limestone I think.
Inside the cave
Other explorers inside
We found that you can run from the BLOODY flies but cannot escape them.
After the cave we moved to visit Greenhead and Leeman both small cray fishing villages,as it is not cray season here yet not much happening.Have tried to buy crayfish( fresh ones) but not available some frozen ones are,but again like most things most are sold overseas.
These beauties are nesting along beach at Leeman.
In the street here the locals have erected a pole and built a small platform on top and the rest they say is history, a great idea .
He looks at home here
Back to Indoon wind blowing still, Flies appear to have multiplied had enough here beautiful place but enough is enough.Off to Jurian Bay tomorrow.

Port Gregory -Geraldton

Called into Port Gregory on the way to Geraldton to see Pink Lake not sure what gives the lake it's pink colour but it does appear to be pink unfortunately our photo does not show it.That's us on the left and our friends from Bribie Island on the right.
We carried on to Geraldton and booked into the Sunset Caravan Park,it's right on the beach would be nice if not for crappy weather, cool, showery and overcast most of the time.
Cruise Ship off Geraldton Harbour.
Saturday morning off to Farmers Market to buy fresh fruit and vege better and cheaper than the Fresh Food People also found Bunnings,Camping Store good retail therapy.
We watched NRL Grand Final cheered for Warriors(Judith & Ross ex KIWI's) but not to be.
I had ordered a set of Solar Screens for car windows,we purchased them online in Carnarvon, they are made in Qld.Postage was to take upto 15 days so each day we called in to Post Office to collect them.
Monday 3/10/11 Judith and Gail both former Hairdressers spent the morning doing each others hair, scrubbed up ok.Into town for some sightseeing also had 2 new tyres fitted to car all these K's things need to done to enable us to keep going.

Denham-Kalbarri National Park.

We went to visit an old heritage Sheep Station, just outside Denham, interesting to see set up of old buildings, hot springs, shearers quarters how tough was life for the pioneers out here?
<>
Not so BIG RIG!!!!

Monday 26/9 off early today for Kalbarri a small holiday town on coast at mouth of the Murchison River small population here about 2000 i think.Wild flowers every where best season for years they say.Tour operators having good season. We did trip around wild flower trail with Judith & Ross,Judith really keen on flowers,me not so much,Gail keen to.

Our friend Judith on the job.
Judith's Apprentice.
These are everywhere.
Is that wind in your hair AND a flanno?
Ever since we crossed that Tropic of Capricorn things have been real cool, and windy(Not HAPPY )!
Girls need a break from Kitchen so tonight off to Finlay's Aussie BBQ also known as Kalbarri's Ripsnorter Aussie Barbie.A truly unique place to eat where the chef (read cook) rips the shit out of everyone(read teases )
Yes thats what greets you on way in all downhill after that.
Food great,a good night had by all, nobody really offended by comments from kichen, all in good fun and taken as such.
Wednesday 27/9 off to Kalbarri National Park to view top end of Murchison River.
Seems like your on top of the world out here.
More Gorges each unique in thier own way, this country is bloody BEAUTIFUL,not everyones cup of tea but WE LOVE IT.

Now thats a view.
Where did he come from?
Next we went off to check out a place called Z Bend where the River made its way through the landscape in yes you guessed it a Z or zig zag.
The colours that Nature conjures up never fails to amaze even the harshest critic acknowledges this fact. Short walks only here as car parks are handy to all sites.
Heres looking up your gorge!!!

Denham-Monkey Mia

We arrived at Denham around 6 00pm,had to stay in drive thru site as we arrived too late to get on our allocated site,no problem, will move tomorrow.
Moved to site, set up van,had a drive around town, took about 30mins,now what do we do?I know off to the pub,ok had 2 or 3 there back to van.Read book and rested for remainder of day(This travelling sure gets tiring).
Up early Saturday 24/9 off to Monkey Mia to see Dolphins with Judith & Ross must be there 7 30am .Every thing out here you want to see here has fee we get concessions now I am a SENIOR(thanks Pete we now have saved HEAPS).The Ranger that gives info on Dolphins made us aware of changes to what we could do and what we couldn't,now you are not to touch them, feeding is restricted to a small fish each time so that they don't become dependent on the handouts, etc.
Family groups come in mainly Mothers only about 7 or 8 though. Males stay out in Bay and do Blokey things. One young male came in while we were there, put on quite a show.Kids young and old loved it.
Here they come now, look but don't touch

These are not tame but wild animals.
Oh! Come on give me a kiss!
This would have to be the best job.
Out of a crowd of about 200 people that morning Gail was chosen to feed a Dolphin named Piccolo, she was really excited and cameras made ready for that KODAK moment, but Piccolo decided she was not hungry, very disappointed we were that she would not eat from Gails hand.
So close
What a privilege to be here and witness the trust these wonderful animals have in us,this is a DEFINITE must on anyones BUCKET list,so many photos so little space here.
Meet Piccolo the not so hungry Dolphin.
